Help shape the future of transition

Mike Wilson of Public Voice has been back in touch with us to say that the Joint Adult Social Care Partnership Board are not just limiting their parent carer representation to two people and welcome members to join who have children who will be transitioning in to adult services in the next few years and those whose children have recently transitioned.  They will meet once every two months at a time and venue to suit the majority of members – daytime and evening meetings. He has also said that as well as coming via the forum you can get in touch directly to find out more or to join by phoning him on 020 3196 1896 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . We have circulated this second request to HI members.

And Kenton , as the lead for the forum , will feed in what you told us at the HI Transition Event in March was key to a good experience

  • Inspire to have aspirations (parents, young people, schools)
  • Link with employment – thinking about their future
  • Solution focussed and flexible
  • Promote independence
  • Clear pathways for youngsters with EHCPs
  • More support needed for parents with disabilities to support their children

Calling for a parent carer to volunteer their time to be on the new Transitions Reference Group

HI have had a request from the Joint Partnership Board on the adult side to nominate 2 parent carer reps to join a new Transition Reference Group that they plan to set up in the autumn term. Kenton has been the lead on the post 16 work -attending Shana Nessa’s Transitions Working Group since January of this year and he is looking for someone to join him who has an interest in preparing for adulthood and also has the time to get along to a daytime monthly meeting. Please read the document for more details.
